Bill of Rights Acclamation!December 15, 2010 The JAL held a "Bill of Rights Acclamation" event Wednesday, December 15, 2010, from 4:30–5:30 p.m. at the First Amendment Monument on the Downtown Mall in Charlottesville.
JAL Treasurer James Curtis lead the warmly dressed crowd in reading the Bill of Rights aloud, including the little-known Preamble. His picture was featured on the front page of The Daily Progress. Robert Tracinski, Editor of The Intellectual Activist and TIADaily.com and Political Director for the Jefferson Area Tea Party, addressed the 9th Amendment. Joe Thomas, host of "Joe Thomas In-The-Morning" in Charlottesville and "The Afternoon Constitutional" (syndicated in Washington, DC, and Richmond), spoke about the 5th Amendment and also the controversy surrounding James Madison’s original resistance to the idea of the Bill of Rights.
